Random Pairs Competition

Typically at the start of the season we hold a random pairs competition. Entries are required before the event and then on the day, pairs are drawn at random. This is designed to be a friendly competition to ease players back into the season after the summer break with the beauty of the competition being that you never know who you might be paired with. This is a great way to get to know other players outside of your club and league.

2025 Random Pairs

On Sunday 28th September 2025, at Bro Myrddin Indoor Bowls Centre, 60 players attended and were drawn randomly into 30 pairs. These pairs were then sorted into 6 groups of 4 and 2 groups of 3. The top two in each group progressed into the cup knockout and the bottom two in the group progressed into the plate knockout. With 3 drop-outs in the  morning Catrin Williams (Llanpumsaint) agreed to play to make up the numbers. 

 

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped with the mats first thing and with putting them away after each round.  A big thank you to Sylvia as well for running the raffle. 

 

With games being played quickly, by 4pm, the finals had been completed with the results as follows: 

2025 Random Pairs Winners: Ethan Jones (Salem) & Dafydd Rees (Bronwydd)

2025 Random Pairs Runners-Up: Catrin Williams (Llanpumsaint) & Kieran Thomas (Llanpumsaint)

2024 Random Pairs

On Saturday 31st August 2024, at Bro Myrddin Indoor Bowls Centre, 56 players attended and were drawn randomly into 28 pairs. These pairs were then sorted into 7 groups of 4. The top two in each group progressed into the cup knockout and the bottom two in the group progressed into the plate knockout. With games being played quickly, all group games and the first round of the knockouts were played before lunchtime.
